Stay Creative& Build Community

“You can’t use up creativity.  The more you use, the more you have.” Maya Angelou

Even before the pandemic we were exploring other avenues to keep the creative juices flowing.  TikTok had already been around for awhile and as somewhat of a joke, I downloaded it over Christmas break to annoy my teenage son.

Fast forward three months of TikTok and 20,000 followers, this is what I’ve learnt about the platform:

Content, content, content: TikTok is one of the few, if not the only social platform, that rewards users for creating tons of content.  Posting multiple times a day with associated content almost guarantees consistent growth in followers.

Create value for your followers: Like other platforms, you should be focused on creating value for your followers but feel free to throw in some fun content too. TikTok videos are short and sweet – you have the option to select either a 15 or 60 second clip, that’s it.  Think educational and inspirational!

Build community through engagement: Social media, regardless of what platform you’re using should be exactly that, SOCIAL!  How do you build a community of people that are interested in you, your company, your content? Connect with them.  Answer questions. Engage in your followers accounts.  This is a two-way street people.
